What do I think about, when I think about writing?
When a person writes, I believe that he/she pours his/her heart and soul into their pieces, being truthful, bashful, and intricately cunning. These are all qualities that according to me are extremely important to culminate in not just in avid writer but also artists in general. So, these are some things that I liked to keep in mind when writing my story Metamorphosis in the book Once Upon A Time In Our Minds published by RidhzWorld Publishing!
A Writer's Journey of Passion: Metamorphosis was story I had thought about at the very beginning of my story writing journey with RidhzWorld. It was this kind of whimsical personification of a gentle butterfly who goes through his/ her life cycle, while facing challenges that humans like you and me face on a daily basis. It was this very theme that I wished to be present throughout the story.
Hence, I created an ambience of anonymity and compactness. This was to show the protection yet exposure the butterfly was receiving from factors in the outside world. Again, while writing I tried to make sure that the butterfly never had a dull moment. The story, in my opinion on, was never meant to be slow. I tried to incorporate a specific tempo at which the story would unfold. Th us, capturing the reader’s attention with quick yet subtle details and slow yearning.
To remind you, this story wasn’t something I had thought about in a day’s time. To be completely honest, I took large liberties of making sure that the original idea of the story that I had formulated met MY expectations!
With that in mind, I would like to focus on a different part of my writing. VOCABULARY.
Yes, vocabulary is something that proved as a great asset when I started writing my story. Personally, I like to think that the vocabulary a person possesses does not limit any opportunities that a person might have in the unforeseen future. However, having a vast vocabulary is indeed something that helps show your capability and confidence when it comes to voicing your opinion. Therefore, when it comes to writing, it is important to not re peat words you have already used multiple times. This only makes your narrative much more harder to re ad and less innovative. Though, one thing to keep in mind while writing is to use your word stock with respect to what your content is about. For example, when writing a children’s tale, please do not use the word ‘supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’. Seriously though, don’t.
Lastly, and most importantly, the thing that brought my story home, was passion! Passion for the characters, for the plot, for the overall idea. Trust me, when I say that when you are able to love your work and are able to improve on it, the piece automatically becomes art. Your work instantly turns into something that is relatable. Thus, bringing upon a certain connection between the readers and the author. This is something I observed after I put Metamorphosis out into the world. This story is truly something I cherish and to see so many family members and friends appreciate and love it just as much as I do, warms my heart!
Therefore, these are the few things that I liked to keep in mind when writing Metamorphosis. Yes, writing isn’t always smooth sailing however, with patience and virtue, a true writer can ALWAYS figure things out!
Ending with a piece of valuable advice for all those budding authors who are yet to break out of their ’cysts’. Just by honing some of the qualities mentioned above can take you places you might’ve never imagined, even in your wildest dreams!
